Ware County Board of Commissioners now accepting applications for a fulltime FIREFIGHTER position until position is filled.

Candidates interested in a firefighting career must be 18 or older, possess high school diploma/GED, valid Georgia drivers license, and not have been convicted of a felony.

Duties include but not limited to: protection of life and property from fire, hazardous materials, other emergencies as well as fire prevention and other public education efforts. Firefighters also perform routine tasks of vehicle/building maintenance, participate in on-going professional development training within the department and fully satisfy the requirements of Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training Council.

Firefighter must be physically and mentally capable of performing stressful physical tasks in potentially hazardous conditions.
Work hours-24 on/48 off. Successful completion of physical agility tests to be met first followed by written exam. Volunteer firefighter experience with required training a plus.

Final approval of employment based on successful completion of drug and physical exam.
