Civil Engineer

This position is responsible for performing professional tasks at the managerial level by supervising and overseeing the land development functions of the department. Manages the administration and enforcement of County, State and Federal codes and regulations. Work involves management of the plan review process, and the performance of all inspections for infrastructure and land development in the County. Provides general oversight of Facilities Maintenance division.
Typical duties include:
Performs administrative tasks for the department; reviews and provides input regarding rezoning applications; approves final plats for conformance with construction standards; performs interpretation and implementation of ordinances; reviews existing ordinances, including the Standard Construction Specifications, and prepares recommendations for updates; approves grading permits and Development Permits.
Assists with reviewing plans and hydrology studies for conformance with local, state and federal regulations,
Performs technical tasks to support a variety of department functions; conducts site reviews to ensure compliance with design plans; oversees the filing of all required county and state engineering reports. Coordinates the preparation and submittal of the annual NPDES storm water report to EPD.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field with six years of experience in engineering design and construction management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Professional Engineer License in the State of Georgia is preferred.
